Louisiana Department of Revenue Hosts a Super Tax Day Event to Provide Free Tax Filing and Assistance

Baton Rouge, LA- The Louisiana Department of Revenue (LDR) in conjunction with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the Baton Rouge Asset Building Coalition, Mid-City Redevelopment, and other community partners, are hosting a Super Tax Day event for the first time in Baton Rouge. The event provides free electronic filing of Federal and Louisiana individual income tax returns. It will be held at Baton Rouge Community College on Saturday, February 9, 2008.

Assistance will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. No appointments are necessary and taxpayers will be served on a first come-first served basis. The program is available for low to moderate income taxpayers who file basic individual income tax returns. Capital One, Regions Bank and Chase Bank will also be on site, hosting financial planning seminars.

“We are excited to host this wonderful event for our taxpayers,” says Cynthia Bridges, Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Revenue. “We expect a large turnout and encourage people to come out to have their individual income taxes filed for free, and also take advantage of the financial seminars that will be available.”

Taxpayers must bring all W-2’s, 1099’s, Social Security cards of dependants, a copy of last year’s tax return if available, and information for all deductions and credits.

Super Tax Day will be held at Baton Rouge Community College in the Bienvenue Building on 5310 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70806.
