Sales and Use Tax Seminar Scheduled

Held in conjunction with Rapides Parish Sales and Use Tax Department

ALEXANDRIA - As a part of the Department of Revenue''s outreach effort to taxpayers, a one-day State and Local Sales and Use Tax Seminar will be presented Thursday, January 17, 2002 at the Holiday Inn Convention Center, 701 4th Street in Alexandria, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The seminar is being presented by the Alexandria Regional Office of the Department of Revenue in conjunction with the Rapides Parish Sales and Use Tax Department.

Joseph Vaughn, Director of the Alexandria Regional Office of the Louisiana Department of Revenue and Donna Andries, Administrator for the Rapides Parish Sales & Use Tax Office, will present the seminar. Topics will include explanations of: sales tax in comparison to use tax, electronic filing of tax returns, collection and enforcement techniques, sales and use tax audits, and discussion on exclusions and exemptions with an emphasis on the differences between state and local taxation applications. Time permitting, a question and answer session will be held at the end of the day.

To cover expenses for the seminar, there is a charge of $25.00 per person. Checks should be made payable to Rapides Parish Police Jury and mailed to P.O. Box 671, Alexandria, LA 71309. Refreshments will be provided. (Note: Certified Public Accountants attending will earn eight hours of Continuing Professional Education credit.)
