Louisiana Department of Revenue Reopens New Orleans Regional Office on Monday December 5th, 2005
LDR’s New Orleans Regional Office, which has been closed since August 29th, will reopen on a limited service basis effective Monday, December 5th.
“As a resident of the city I regularly witness first hand the dedication and commitment of this community. We have met with our building manager and determined that it is now safe for employees to return to perform some of our regional operations. However, due to staff limitations and other conditions in New Orleans, we plan to begin with a small unit that will be responsible for providing limited taxpayer assistance related services.” said Earl Millet, Director for LDR’s New Orleans region.
The regional office will handle walk-in traffic and assist customers with telephone inquiries. Employees have also been assigned to work in the Disaster Recovery Centers processing natural disaster sales tax refunds and contractor registration information.
At this time the office will provide the following services:Problem resolution services, cashier services, contractor clearances, contractor registration, inheritance tax assistance, miscellaneous assistance, disaster sales tax assistance, payments processing, issue of receipts, and returns prep assistance.
“We are delighted to have our New Orleans office back online and are looking forward to meeting the needs of the regional area as the progress of the city continues.” commented Cynthia Bridges, Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Revenue. “I know I am expressing the feeling of our entire family of employees throughout the state in welcoming our returning co-workers back to their offices in New Orleans.”
Staff personnel will be available to assist customers on weekdays at the New Orleans Regional Offices located at 1555 Poydras St. Suite 2100, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, and at the New Orleans City Hall Building Bureau of Revenue Offices between the hours of 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
