May 30, 2014

BATON ROUGE – A New Orleans tax preparer faces felony charges for allegedly filing fraudulent tax returns, the Louisiana Department of Revenue reported Friday.

Investigators say Eugene Keller, owner of Keller’s Tax Service in New Orleans, fabricated business losses on tax returns for clients who were not business owners. His alleged criminal activity resulted in $105,787 in fraudulent tax refunds. Keller was arrested on Friday, May 30, and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on eight counts of Computer Fraud and eight counts of Filing or Maintaining False Public Records.

Keller, of 6701 Bamberry Street in New Orleans, is the 20th person arrested under a joint anti-fraud initiative of the Department of Revenue and the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office.
