BATON ROUGE- The Louisiana Department of Revenue is pleased to announce Cynthia Bridges, Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Revenue, as President of the Federation of Tax Administrators (FTA).
Secretary Bridges was first elected to a two-year term on the board in 2001. In addition, the Louisiana Department of Revenue received the FTA Award for Technology Applications under Secretary Bridges’ leadership in 2005. The award was given for the DELTA project, which was designed to modernize and integrate revenue operations.
The Federation of Tax Administrators (FTA) was organized in 1937 to improve the quality of state tax administration by providing services to state tax authorities and administrators. These services include research and information exchange, training, and intergovernmental and interstate coordination. The Federation also represents the interests of state tax administrators before federal policymakers where appropriate.
In addition, FTA serves as a source of information and expertise for state administrators and others on the workings of state tax agencies and systems as well as issues generally affecting tax policy and administration. FTA also serves as a clearinghouse on topics important to administrators by regularly monitoring the activities of state tax agencies and the federal government.
The Louisiana Department of Revenue’s mission is to administer the applicable tax laws of the state of Louisiana as well as regulations concerning alcohol, tobacco and charitable gaming.
