Louisiana Department of Revenue Hosts the Central City Expo to Provide Tax Preparation and Assistance

September 12, 2006

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Louisiana Department of Revenue (LDR) in conjunction with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the Louisiana Society of Certified Public Accountants (LSCPA), and Dryades YMCA, are hosting the Central City Expo, which provides free electronic filing of Federal and Louisiana tax returns. The Central City Expo will be held at the Dryades YMCA on Tuesday, September 19, 2006.

Assistance will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. No appointments are necessary and taxpayers will be served on a first come-first served basis. In addition to tax preparation and assistance, seminars will be held to answer questions about the Natural Disaster Refund and other tax topics. The program is available for low to moderate income taxpayers who file basic individual income tax returns. Representatives will be on site to assist taxpayers with preparation of their federal 1040A and 1040 EZ tax returns, as well as the Louisiana IT 540 return.

Secretary Cynthia Bridges states, “We are excited to host this wonderful event for our taxpayers who were greatly affected by the hurricane. The Central City Expo is an opportunity for those taxpayers who took advantage of the filing extension to come out and get free tax preparation and assistance. We will have experts on site to answer any questions taxpayers may have, especially as it relates to the Natural Disaster Refund.”

All taxpayers must bring all W-2’s, 1099’s, Social Security cards of dependants, and a copy of last year’s tax return if available. Taxpayers are also encouraged to come prepared to get their questions answered by our tax experts, as well as walk away with valuable information from the seminar.

The Central City Expo will be held at the Dryades YMCA, located at 1746 Jackson Ave.
