"E-asy Pay" Option Allows Businesses to Pay Taxes On-Line

November 24, 2003

BATON ROUGE – Revenue Secretary Cynthia Bridges says the Department’s “E-asy Pay” program now gives businesses the option to pay most types of business taxes on-line through the Department’s website.

“The E-asy Pay option for businesses has been added to our already successful E-asy Pay option for individual taxpayers that has been in place since January, 2003,” Bridges says. She points out that any business already registered with the Department is eligible to participate in the E-asy Pay program by registering on-line.

“There is absolutely no paperwork involved,” Bridges says. “All they have to do is sign up through our website at http://revenue.louisiana.gov for any business tax for which they are currently registered. During signup through the Department’s secure website, they must supply the business account number given to them by the Department, their location zip code, contact information, the type of tax for which they are registering, and their banking information. They also must specify a Personal Identification Number (PIN) of their choice.”

Bridges adds, “If the account number and location zip code match what the Department has on file for the taxpayer, the PIN will be validated by the system and the business may begin submitting electronic payments through the website immediately.” If a taxpayer forgets his PIN, they need only contact the Department’s Taxpayer Services Division at 225-219-7318, verify their identity, and have their PIN reset.

The E-asy Pay option can be used to pay corporate taxes, sales taxes, withholding taxes, and most excise taxes (those that are enabled for electronic funds transfer). The payments can be for current or past tax periods. Bridges adds that return payments, declarations of estimated tax, and billings and audit payments can also be submitted through E-asy Pay. Severance taxes are to be added to the E-asy Pay program in the near future.
